The World Economic Forum (The Forum) is an independent international organization committed to improving the state of the world by engaging business, political, academic, and other leaders from various industries to set global, regional, and industry agendas.
In 2022 fall, through the U-Corp Lab, Duke Kunshan University cooperated with the World Economics Forum to carry out two research projects on Quantum Computation and Chief Digital Officers on campus, providing future development directions for relevant industries/businesses.
In this ESS, we are honored to invite Dr. Zhe Shi, the Chief Digital Officer of Foxconn Technology Group, who has been devoted to strategic planning and practice of digital transformation and intelligent manufacturing. As a recognized expert in the field, Dr. Shi has played a key role in promoting the implementation of lighthouse factories, digital platforms, and industrial internet. From his personal growth and practical experience, he will share with us how he transitioned from a student entrepreneur to a CDO and explore the challenges and future of digital transformation and intelligent upgrading of the manufacturing industry.

The AxBrain team emphasizes the importance of developing effective strategies to alleviate anxiety, particularly given the significant levels of “involution” and anxiety among young individuals. Amid the COVID-19 pandemic, Autonomous Sensory Meridian Response (ASMR) is emerging as a promising and accessible relaxation technique. ASMR is a human perceptual phenomenon evoked by diverse stimuli, with auditory triggers being the most prevalent. Previous studies have demonstrated the potential of ASMR to alleviate depression, underscoring its value in mitigating negative emotional states among humans.
University-Corporation Innovation Lab (U-Corp Lab) is a co-innovation platform established to provide long-term strategic partnerships between innovative organizations/companies and Duke Kunshan University. U-Corp Lab helps innovative organizations/companies develop relationships with the vibrant DKU research and entrepreneurial community and access emerging talent through co-innovation projects. At the same time, DKU students will be involved in co-innovation projects with companies, mastering industry-proven innovation research methodologies through productive practice.
Blue Bear, founded in July 2022, is one of the newest members of DKU iNNOVATION iNCUBATOR. Their immediate goal is to design a stable robot structure and program that can pick up and shoot a Frisbee, which also has the ability to score with a two-color cylinder. In December 2022, they presented their research and development results for the first time at the 15th VEX Asian Robot Championship China Selection Competition held in Ocean Flower Island, Hainan, and achieved a good result.
How time flies! As 2023 begins, a brand new Dii Fair was held successfully, waiting for new seekers to reveal the veil of starting up innovative/creative projects. To unveil the overview of Dii, current Dii projects, supports and resources, as well as its running mechanism, Dii Fair was held as scheduled on a rainy Monday.
Design thinking is the core methodology of this program that has been recognized as one of the most creative and effective tools to address innovation in the modern world. Particularly for non-designers, it provides a new way of looking at problems as well as a systematical approach to developing creative solutions that can be applied to a vast range of topics and disciplines. This program will provide an immersive experience of design thinking from emphasizing, defining, ideating, prototyping, and testing.
