Project Funding

Each incubator team will receive basic funding ranging from 5,000 to 40,000 CNY per year, depending on the project rating. Currently, funds are provided in the form of cash advances, reimbursement, and procurement according to the budget plan submitted at the beginning of each quarter (3 months). At the end of the quarter, teams must report actual expenses and return unused funds. To apply for additional funding (over the annual allowance), please send a request via email.

Each team will have the founder or one of the co-founders designated as its fund manager. The fund manager will be in charge of all fund-related tasks, including submitting budget plans, monitoring fund use, collecting supporting materials for reimbursement, reporting expenses, and returning unused cash advances.

• All funding should be used only for the purpose of the Dii/Dachuang project and cannot be used for personal or any other purposes.
• Participants must ensure that the reimbursement materials are legal, valid, and matches the actual expenses.
• Submission of false or mismatched materials will result in failure of reimbursement and may even lead to the termination of the project.

Project funding CANNOT be used on:

• Paying salaries
• Outsourcing core project parts
• Buying social media promotion service at an early stage
• Establishing or maintaining a “relationship” with business partners.

Business Travel and Hospitality Reimbursement need to submit a Travel Request to Dii.

Overall budget plan submission

At the beginning of incubation, submit an overall budget plan to dku-innovation@dukekunshan.edu.cn and Sakai for review. Name the document to “Team number_Team name_overall budget plan”.  It can be adjusted at a later stage according to the actual situation.

Once Dii confirms the overall budget, the fund manager can submit the quarterly budgets to apply for reimbursements and procurements.

Large expenses over 5000 CNY will need to go through the procurement process, which is longer and more complicated than the normal expense report.

Submit the Purchase Requisition Form to Sakai in advance. We’ll submit it in the Fusion Cloud for you.

Reimbursements submitted after the deadline will be deferred to the next quarter.

1. Log in to https://dkucard.dukekunshan.edu.cn and click on “Bank Card”.

2. Fill out the required bank card information. Click “Edit”, fill in your info, then Click “Submit”.

3. Fill in your bank account information as its exactly shown on your bank receipt.
– For Chinese Students Please put in your Chinese name. 中国籍学生请填写中文名
– For International Students Please put the name on your bank account opening receipt

Below is one CCB Receipt Sample that CCB will give to you after you settle down your CCB bank account in CCB branch.

The total amount of funding for the Dii/Dachuang Program is fixed, but the incubator team can submit a separate application for overspending after reaching the maximum amount of funding.

Unexpected expenses (not reported in the budget plan): email us for approval; file an additional expense report.

There is no upper limit for expenses per quarter as long as they do not exceed the total funding amount.

Failure for Midterm Review: No reimbursement for expenses after midterm .

Failure for the Final Review: No reimbursement for expenses after the last quarter and beyond.
