The Team
The Elderly-E team aims to overcome the problem of the digital chasm, which prevails among elders. The entire project is divided into three parts: 1) Publish video courses on mobile operations, and send out mobile operation videos on social media platforms; 2) enter nursing homes in Suzhou and Shanghai by recruiting volunteers and give offline lectures according to the online content, as well as give one-to-one answers to questions about mobile phones; 3) the online elderly community, which is currently under construction. We hope to help the elderly adapt to phone operations more easily via constructing WeChat mini-programs.

The Team Members
Jiyuan Wang (Founder)
Hello, I am Jiyuan Wang from the Class of 2024 at DKU. As the wheel of time rolls forward, technology also continuously advances. To the elderly, newborn technological products such as smartphones seemed to have become associated with the young. However, Elderly-E will use its delicate tutorials and patient teachings to help the elderly feel the convenience of technology and enjoy what technology has to offer. The younger generation should repay its elder counterpart, and caring about the technological equality of the elderly is a responsibility that all young people who feel socially responsible should take.
Yufan Gao (Artistic Design)
Hi! I’m Yufan Gao, from the Class of 2024. Sounding the voice of the epoch seems an easy task in the digital era. While we busy ourselves with expressing all kinds of “words of wisdom”, we leave the voices which cease to be youthful behind. We gather together surrounding the need of those voices, and starting from countless small introductions to functions, we help those voices to be heard. I believe that all lives which exist should collide, debate, compete, persuade, and march into the future together on an equal basis. My job is to use readily understandable and interesting content design to keep people attracted.
Jianning He (Technical Support)
Hello, I am Jianning He from the Class of 2024 at DKU. I’m mainly in charge of video editing and special effects. Thinking, Innovating, Seeking, and Giving are my permanent creed. Shakespeare once said that “Caring for oneself alone is such a waste. God created us to use us as torches, not to illuminate ourselves, but to illuminate the world.” I shall use my knowledge of information technology to help the elderly synchronize with technological development, contributing my small strength to technological equality and the aging of society.
Yueqian Lin (Treasurer)
Extraordinary ones teach others. I, with my relatively abundant knowledge of information technology, will do what I can for those who know less on the subject, repeating simple actions cordially, being passionate forever, to help the elderly discover the love and beauty in life.
Rongfan Liu (Project Operation)
It is young people’s responsibility to aid the elderly community in keeping up with the modern world and enhance their own lives using technology. The meaning of existence for society is to give as much welfare as possible to its members, ensuring that they can truly meet their own needs, while all members have the obligation to contribute their full power for the welfare of the public to pay back for what he is receiving himself.
Yixuan Liu (Marketing)
Hello, I am Yixuan Liu from the Class of 2024 at DKU. As the digital era improves continuously, digital networks have entered history as brand-new media. It is rapidly impacting and changing our way of living and our living environment. We work on helping more elderly people to catch up with modern times and learn how to use phones. This is the duty and great responsibility of us youths.
Interview
Q1 What is your initial motivation in joining Dii?
I learned about Dii initially during Dr Liqi’s Innovation class. She introduced to us that Dii is a platform through which everyone can realize their own ideas. At that time, I immediately thought that my Creative Journal for the class could come true by dint of Dii. Furthermore, the distancing between the elderly and the digital society is also a prevailing problem. I consider us youths responsible for helping the elderly gradually adapt to the digitalization of modern society.
Q2 How did Dii offer your program support?
Dii helped our team in a myriad of ways!
To begin with, the Dii application process is a great opportunity for us to manage the logic of our program. From the one-sentence introduction in the beginning, to the more comprehensive Project Proposal, and further to the SWOT analysis during the Final Pitch, we understood what and how our program would preform more clearly.
Further, the monthly training after application helped me, a new “entrepreneur”, to understand what it takes to build a successful program better, such as finance analysis, project prototype, etcetra, guided us through the initial period of the program. Similar Dii programs will gather every month to communicate the progress of their respective programs and exchange suggestions. In this process, more thoughts can be heard and considered.
Q3 What effects did Dii have on your studies and daily life?
The largest impact Dii had on my life and studies is that it trained my ability to balance, helping me to find a delicate balance between daily life and the program. I have to work diligently in my studies, relax regularly in my life, and propel the program’s development, all at the same time. I reckon that the Dii project experience made me adapt earlier to the intense working schedule which I will later encounter in society.
