As the global population continues to age, there is growing attention on achieving healthy and active aging. The key to achieving this goal is inclusive design, which involves creating accessible and usable products, services, and environments for people of different ages and abilities. This session will explore the relationship between inclusive design and healthy aging. It will define inclusive design and discuss its significance and benefits for aging societies. The sharing session will analyze inclusive design in areas such as architecture, urban planning, transportation, consumer goods, and technology. The lecture will delve into how thoughtful, people-centric design can promote independence, social participation, and quality of life as we age. It will emphasize the health, psychological, and social outcomes of creating inclusive and barrier-free spaces and systems for older adults. Participants will gain an understanding of inclusive design principles and their applications to support healthy, meaningful, and engaging aging.
For this IEE session, we are honored to invite Professor Hua Dong from Brunel University. Through this session, she will help students better understand the connection between design and building an aging society, the concept of inclusive design, its applications in various urban domains, and the importance of creating an aging-friendly society.
We look forward to your attendance!
