Understand and Engage Creative Practitioners/Entrepreneurs in China
Knitup is a startup incubated by Cobalt Fashion that is Fung Group Company. Knitup can address the bottleneck to mass customization for any knitted products on a large scale by automatically turning digital design into knitting data that goes straight to knitting machines. In the unique design-knit fashion ecosystem, creative practitioners play a crucial role as they possess the ability to express their creativity through products and even become entrepreneurs to expand their impact and establish their own brands. This project aims to develop a sustainable business model for knit fashion in China by comprehensively understanding these creative practitioners/entrepreneurs. By gathering information on the knitwear market in China and examining the development of knitwear products in China and other Asian countries, the team generated ideas on how Knitup could effectively engage creative practitioners/entrepreneurs in the Chinese market. Through qualitative research, including literature review, surveys, and interviews, they concluded that Knitup should target individual designers rather than branded designers, and establish connections with fabric producers in the local market.
