Lallas Chen
Lallas Chen is the China Programs Manager at Watson Institute. With a deep commitment to empower the next generation of change-makers, she leverages her experience in program management, cross-cultural collaboration, and social impact initiatives to drive meaningful change. Over the past six years leading Watson’s initiatives in China, she has successfully cultivated partnerships with universities, NGOs, and industry leaders to amplify the impact of a growing network of exceptional Watson Fellows.
Lallas holds an MA in International Law and Settlement of Disputes from the University for Peace and serves as a board member and consultant for several social enterprises. These organizations focus on areas such as AI for good, quality education, peace-building, well-being, and environmental protection.
Yu Zheng
Yu Zheng has been instrumental in Yibao Project for 9 years, a pioneering micro-insurance initiative in China since 2015, serving the underserved bottom-of-pyramid (BOP) population. Under Yu’s leadership, Yibao notably launched China’s first inclusive insurance for families with mental disabilities in 2017, benefiting over 150,000 families and handling 1,200 claims. Since 2023, Yu Zheng led seminars across 20+ provinces, empowering 500+ households financially. Yibao’s significance lies in bridging the financial gap for 2 million BOPs, fostering financial inclusion and contributing to China’s harmonious society and shared prosperity.
William Zhang
About “Embodied Moment”:
Launched in 2023, Embodied Moment is China’s first inclusive dance project initiated in response to the need for accessible dance classes for people with disabilities. Every month, Embodied Moment collaborates with sign language interpreters, dancers, and other partners to create accessible dance workshops, also a space for people with and without disabilities to understand each other. Over the past year, Embodied Moment has partnered with diverse organizations such as social innovation institution Bottle Dream, West Bund Museum and Shanghai Sunshine Rehabilitation Center to hold 19 workshops, bringing together over 600 participants with and without disabilities.
Vincent Liu
Since 2016, Vincent’s passion for tea has led him to establish the Duke CommuniTEA Club and a college tea association spanning multiple universities in the U.S. With a degree in Computer Science from Duke University, Vincent developed MyTeaPal in 2020 to enhance the global tea-drinking experience through technology, connecting tea enthusiasts worldwide. The app has since grown into an international community with 25,000+ users across 100+ countries, available in 18 languages. In addition, he runs MyTeaPal Club, a global tea subscription service that connects members from 50+ countries with monthly curated tea sampler boxes and weekly virtual tastings. Vincent is an incoming Schwarzman Scholar (Class of 2026), where he hopes to further bridge Chinese tea culture with the world through cross-cultural exchange and interdisciplinary learning.
